Supreme Court Vacates Stay in CREW v. FEC; District Court Decision Now in Effect

Today the Supreme Court denied an application for a stay of the district court’s decision in Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) v. FEC, vacating the administrative stay that was issued by the Chief Justice on Friday and that was the subject of yesterday’s e-update. With the stay lifted, the August 3, 2018 district court decision striking down an FEC regulation that limited the scope of donor disclosure to only those contributions made with the purpose of furthering a specific IE goes into effect immediately. That decision was the subject of an earlier e-update.
