Maya Jefferson advises the firm’s clients on a wide range of employment matters such as leave laws, wage and hour laws, discrimination and harassment complaints, handbooks and policies, remote work issues, disability accommodations, and other personnel matters.

Prior to joining Harmon Curran, Maya Jefferson spent four years working as an Associate Attorney at Gilbert Employment Law, primarily on plaintiff-side employment cases. She represented employers and employees regarding Title VII and Equal Pay Act violations before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and federal courts.

While attending law school, Maya was a Student Attorney at the Civil Advocacy Clinic, where she handled client interviews, carried out research, and advised clients on unemployment claims related to COVID-19. Maya also worked as a Law Clerk at Correia & Puth, PLLC, where she completed research on employment discrimination issues and reviewed potential claims of Title VII violations, retaliation, Title IX sexual harassment, and ADEA violations. Maya has also been a guest presenter at the American University Washington College of Law and Georgetown Law Center to discuss negotiation strategies in employment matters.

Maya earned her law degree from the American University Washington College of Law in 2020, and her Bachelor of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies with minors in Philosophy and Political Science in 2015.
